Are Reolink Cameras any Good? – Brand Review

After finishing my recent in-depth review on the Reolink Argus 3 Pro, a great wireless outdoor security camera, I thought I would answer the question on everyone’s mind – Are Reolink Cameras any good? I’ll give a quick verdict if you’re in a hurry – yes. Reolink have become a strong contender for taking the top spot as the king of budget security cameras. Let’s take a look at why Reolink cameras are good, what Reolink do as a company, and whether or not their cameras are worth the money.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Reolink, they are a home security company founded in 2009, with a focus specifically on making great budget-friendly security cameras. Most of their security cameras are aimed in the middle of the market pricing wise – there are a ton of much cheaper and more expensive options, but Reolink have gained a reputation for striking a perfect balance between price and performance from my personal findings.

I think Reolink is an underrated brand. They probably don’t have quite as large of a marketing budget of some of the household names in the space such as Ring, but don’t let their less well known brand name fool you – they are completely on par in almost all ways with the biggest players out there, but for one reason or another don’t appear to attract the same level of brand awareness as some of the other big brands.

Make no mistake, Reolink really do take this whole home security thing seriously. Over the last few years, they have absolutely skyrocketed in popularity and many of this site’s readers have gone on to buy into the Reolink system and haven’t looked back since.

Reolink is still primarily a Chinese owned brand, which is partly how they are able to offer such impressive pricing when compared to the US based companies. Their main office is based in Shenzhen. Some cyber security conscious buyers may see this as a potential cause for concern. In my opinion, since a majority of security products are manufactured in China, this probably shouldn’t bother you too much. Remember that the main potential vulnerability with wireless security cameras has always been hackers, and it’s not in the interest of a company which makes money based on trust to take any unnecessary risks when it comes to IT security.

On top of their line of best selling wireless outdoor security cameras, they do make a range of other home security products, which are mainly cameras for a variety of home security uses. These include indoor smart home cameras, security camera systems and a wide range of accessories for creating a perfect home monitoring system setup.

Reolink have a range of cameras and it would be difficult to cover every single one in a short article, but in general their cameras are definitely worth the money. Their range of “middle of the road” cameras are some of my favourites of any wireless security cameras I have reviewed on this site, and for good reason.

One of the best reviewed cameras on this entire site, the Argus 3 Pro, is one of their bestsellers, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a no-fuss home security improvement without breaking the bank.

Reolink is fairly trustworthy, and have managed to maintain a good reputation for several years at this point. They have had a couple on controversies in the past, such as when a research company discovered some security vulnerabilities in certain products. In general they work hard to ensure they are trustworthy.

If you’re looking into investing in a home security product from Reolink, I would say you should definitely keep it in your shortlist. The brand is becoming more and more successful over time thanks to their continually improving home security systems which have gained them a loyal following.
